Date & Title Appearance

The Date & Title Appearance panel in the timeline properties pane is used to adjust the properties of the timeline's dateline (the titles beneath each major interval) and title.

Background Color

The background color control affects the background color of the timeline's "gutter" area (the area below the timeline that contains the interval marks, the dateline, and the title). Clicking this control allows you to choose a color from the color palette.

Title Controls

The "Show Title" control allows you to toggle the visibility of the timeline's title. The text field to the right of this control allows you to change the title itself.

The "Title Font" control allows you to choose a font (including color, shadow effects, etc.) for the timeline title using the standard OS X font panel.

Dateline Controls

The "Show Dateline" control allows you to toggle the visibility of the timeline's dateline.

The "Dateline Format" control allows you to specify the format in which you want dates to be displayed. See "Date Formatting" for more details.

The "Dateline Font" control allows you to choose a font (including color, shadow effects, etc.) for the timeline's dateline using the standard OS X font panel.

Notes

Although the vertical height of the dateline and title areas will automatically adjust to accommodate the font size and properties you choose, neither the space between intervals nor the width of the title are adjusted. For example, if you have a long title with a large font, you may need to adjust the timeline's margin, or if you have large dateline titles that overlap one-another, you may need to adjust the interval spacing. This can be done using the Span & Interval Appearance panel.
